Yesterday afternoon I was able to pick up a 2011 NEC at a local Graybar Supply. They are actually selling the book at a cheaper rate than both the member price from the NFPA and IAEI. Plus there is no shiiping charge or waiting for it to come in the mail.

Anyway, on the very last page is a postcard with a FREE pdf download offer. You simply go to the website, take a short survey, enter an access code, and the download.

The whole process took less than 10 minutes. The pdf is great. It has a search feature, copy and paste, and you can even highlight / adds notes to sections. It is very user friendly and has a ton of bells and whistles.

So, just wanted to let everyone know. I will likely end up using the pdf a lot more than the actual book...

And on another note, if you don't want to buy it yet, NFPA will let you view it online. You will have to create a free account to read it in RealRead

Thanks Nick. I use the free online service alot especially for some of the other NFPA standards that are references by either the FBC or NEC.

I don't like to split view and there is no search feature.

But FREE is always a good thing...

I got a 2011 NEC from the NFPA. My last page is a Post Card addressed to FULFILLMENT CENTER at the NFPA and may be used to purchase additional copies of the NEC but there is no mention of a pdf version.
Of course, a searchable pdf version would be very useful. Would it be possible for you to post the web page URL?

I tossed the post card after the download went through. Just by coincidence, I happened to be at Books-A-Million the other night and they have a copy of the 2011 and that post card wasn't in the back of that one either.

Maybe it was a deal the NFPA made with Gryabar or something?

I got my 2011 for the $8 shipping from IAEI and downloaded the PDF to my home computer not knowing I would not be able to use the file at work. smh

Yep. I have the opposite problem. I have the pdf version on my work computer & can't open it on my personal computer. Oh Well...

There is an unlocked version floating around out there but I am sure it is illegal.

Wy don't you just go to the NFPA web site and buy the pdf version. It also comes in the handbook type.
