The March meeting of the Florida Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President David Engelhart. David gave a special welcome to Jim Kenna returning after a long battle with cancer and expressed condolences to Mike Looney and Mark Deegan who both lost a parent recently. Secretary Bryan Holland gave a report on IAEI news and business and the dates of upcoming BCAIB, CILB, ECLB, and FBC meetings were announced. A discussion was opened regarding recent legislative activity and a new NEC – TIA on perimeter bonding at spas and hot tubs.
Gregg Brown and Robert Romano are meeting with officials at the Charlotte Events Center on March 20th in preparation for the Annual Meeting and Seminar in 2013. Tommy Lasprogato is making plans to assemble the meeting committee within the next month or so. Robert Romano asked if any local jurisdictions are enforcing Article 682 in relation to residential boat lifts. Gregg Brown commented on a problem with older boats and GFCI protection at Shore Power outlets.
Secretary Bryan Holland brought in a display of antique incandescent lamps, early wiring devices, and an early 1900’s lightning rod.
This month’s presentation was a free 1-HR class on Article 518 – Assemblies. A handout a power presentation was provided. A question and answer session followed.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be held on April 20, 2011.
