I have a residence that is @ 14000 sq. ft, 5 stories and type IIB construction. NM cable is not allowed per NEC 334 but does this SFR have any restrictions on low voltage cable (NEC 725 and 760, etc)? Residences are allowed to be wired with CMX and I find no provisions to use anything more even though a cable may be rising 4 to 5 stories. I guess what I'm wondering is if MN is nixed, why wouldn't there be restrictions on CM and such cables? Does the residential CMX rule out the need for riser rated cable?
I appreciate and and all input.

I too do not see any restriction on the use of CMX type cables used in one-family dwellings based on the size or number of floors. However, the installation of these cables through or within fire-resistant-rated construction must be protected to limit the spread of fire or products of combustion in compliance with the Florida Building Code, namely Chapter 7.

Thanks, Bryan, thats about where I end up. FBC 712 requires penetrations of fire walls to be sealed and NEC 725 also requires floors to be sealed.
Just seems odd they would restrict NM cable but not others.
