Regular Meeting: (July 2011)

The July meeting of the Florida Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President David Engelhart. The Treasurer’s Report and Secretary’s Report were approved by the membership. Secretary Bryan Holland gave a report on the 2010 FBC and announced the dates and agendas of future meetings & educational opportunities.

Tommy Lasprogato gave a report on the 2014 Chapter Meeting. Bill Pancake announced some dates to remember regarding the 2014 NEC. Bennett Rosenberger announced the agenda for the next ECF – Edison Chapter Meeting. Wes Colley gave an update on the ECF- Port Charlotte Chapter development. Paul Chimene of FPL gave a report on the recent rebate program & news of several new Tier II solar PV systems around the sate of Florida.

In new business, Robert Romano opened a discussion on a new solar PV, HVAC system being installed in Punta Gorda. Pat Lewis of Pro-Air & Electric gave a description of the system and how it operates. Jamie Johnson of Solar Power Electric discussed matters associated with PV systems including wind load calculations, roof mounting requirements, license scoping, & FSEC certification.

This month’s presentation was given by Mitchell Barrineau of Cooper Bussman on Overcurrent Device & Protection. A PowerPoint presentation and product display was included. A question and answer session followed the presentation.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:15 PM. Our next meeting will be held on August 17, 2011. A FREE 1-hour CE course will be offered.
