1. Regular monthly Division business will be transacted.

2. Swearing in of Division Officers for 2004 will take place. The ranking Florida Chapter Officer or Past
Division Officer in attendance will officiate.

3. PLEASE DO NOT LET YOURSELF GET INTO A LICENSING PROBLEM with the DBPR, ECLB, or BCAIB. SAVE YOUR CE seminar attendance certificates,

4. Ruben Rocha is Chairman of the Florida Chapter “Educational, Code Clearing, & Code Question Committee.” Code questions in general should be directed to him at webmaster@iaeifl.org. ANY CODE
QUESTIONS FOR THE MAY CHAPTER MEETINGS should be sent to him for inclusion into the program. Also any code questions in general may be directed to him.

5. January’s Code Questions of the month –

a. Can a 2-pole GFCI C/B be used on a multi wire system ?

b. Who is responsible for determining if an area is to be classified hazardous ?

c. Does a knife or other suitable sharp edge meet the criteria of the NEC for reaming NM raceway ?

d. Will a 60 Hertz motor work on a 50 Hertz system ?

e. Will a 50 Hertz motor work on a 60 Hertz system ?

f. Is a free/open cabled fire alarm or security system intrinsically safe ?

g. Can a circuit breaker provide the same circuit arc flash hazard reduction as a fuse ? Jump on this one Mr. Kevin Arnold !


6. The Pasco County Monthly Meeting Committee is meeting on 1/28 in Dade City at the TECO Building, 14520 5th Street. Attendees will meet at 600pm at the Golden Corral on Hwy 301 for dinner (each individual is responsible for their dinner charges). The meeting will then follow at 700pm. Bring you IAEI 2002 Analysis of Changes books. Review of the 2002 NECode changes will continue.

7. It is STILL reported that Chief Electrical Inspector Rick Jones of the City of St. Petersburg is very ill with
hepatitis. Please keep Rick in your prayers so that his recovery may be speedy.

8. The City of Largo has a Plans Examiner position open (J-50) with starting rate of pay at $ 32,510.00. There will also be an opening for Chief Building Official on 1/12/04, as Friday 1/9/04 is the last day for Randy Aldridge. Randy and spouse are relocating to Alabama.

9. Continuing KUDOS to the folks at Advanced Protection Technologies for their “dog & pony” show at their
facility on 10/09/03. Favorable reports and comments are still coming in about the meeting and its
demonstrations.

10. PLEASE report any illnesses, etc. to your Division Officers.

January 21 General meeting, Maynard Hamilton-Ft. Lauderdale Division, 1130am, Gibby’s Restaurant, Ft. Lauderdale. Chapter President Nelson Montgomery will be attending.

January 24 8 hour seminar at Coral Springs in Broward County. Proceeds of the meeting to go for the benefit of Tarry Baker and family. Speakers to be John Minick of NEMA and Mark Ode of UL-RTP.

January 28 Pasco County IAEI Committee 700pm meeting at TECO in Dade City.

February 12 General meeting, Suncoast Division, 130pm, City of Safety Harbor, Council Chambers.

February 28 Seminar- “Changes to the 2002 NECode,” 8 hour seminar by NEMA’s John Minick, sponsored by the Central Florida Division at Maitland.

March 11 General meeting, Suncoast Division, 130pm, TECO Western Division, Tampa.

April 8 General meeting, Suncoast Division, 130pm, City of Largo.

May 6 NO DIVISION MEETING. Florida Chapter IAEI 74th annual business meeting and NECode workshop at West Palm Beach 5/5-8/04.

June 10 General meeting, Suncoast Division, 130pm, City of Safety Harbor.

July 8 General meeting, Suncoast Division, 130pm, TECO Western Division, Tampa.

August 12 General meeting, Suncoast Division, 130pm, City of Largo.

October 10-13 76th Southern Section meeting in Wilmington NC.

The ECF- Pinellas Chapter meets the last Thursday of the month at the American Legion Hall in Pinellas Park.
