Nick,

Here is a link to ISO's pamhlet on how they do their ratings. Ten is their optimum amount of inspections per day (obviously they are not a government in Florida)...

http://www.isomitigation.com/bcegs/building-code-classification.pdf

I was surprised to discover that there is a lot of info available online. Experience, certifications and how much your department spends on training are factors in the rating.

And all of us are suffering from cutbacks and training seems to be one of the first things to go. I know Nassau has been depending on free or cheap classes to get by.

I am writing to the ISO for my community's rating and a breakdown. I will repost with their response.

Thanks for the info. You may need to go back into the post and edit the link (there is an "f" missing at the end and it comes up as a dead link). I added the last letter and was able to retrieve the pamphlet:

http://www.isomitigation.com/bcegs/building-code-classification.pdf

It is very informative and I'm shocked at how few jurisdictions - nationwide - for the most part, forsake the ISO guidelines.

Please let us know if ISO is responsive to your query.

Thursday I did 36 inspections in 6 hours.

On a different note:
March 24th 2012. 7hrs
September 15th 2012. 7hrs

Free seminar in Sumter County...total of 14 hrs, lunch and breaks included. Seminar flyers soon to come when all the class information is put together.

I edited the link in question.
But Nick,
You should have been able to select the edit button on the post and fixed it also.

Happy New Year everyone. At our last review we were rated 4 and the population of Pasco is nearing 500,000 citizens.
Our Electrical Inspectors (5) are averaging 12 inspections per day.

Let me know if you are not able to.
Of course you also are able to censor posts, though not suggested on this site.
