The April Meeting of the Florida Gulf Coast Division was called to order by President Gregg Brown. The Secretary’s & Treasurer’s Reports were approved by the membership. Secretary Bryan Holland gave a report on important dates to remember & upcoming educational opportunities available to members. The secretary gave a report on the new NEMA field representative to Florida, Mr. Paul Abernathy, & updated the members present on Building Safety Month / Electrical Safety Month to be recognized in May.

Under Committee Reports, Secretary Bryan Holland gave a health report on Committee Member, Bill Nally. Robert Romano gave a report on the Building Officials Association of Florida / FHBA class he attended earlier in the week.

Under code discussions, Robert Romano asked a question regarding enforcement of the new FBC-EC which requires 50% of the lamps installed in dwelling lighting fixtures to be the high-efficacy type (Section 404.1). A lengthy discussion followed.

This month’s presentation was a 1-hour CE course given by Bryan Holland on Article 645 NEC. A PowerPoint presentation & handouts were provided.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM. Our next meeting will be held on May 16, 2012.
