Mark Ode put on a superb solar PV seminar for the Central Florida Division in Maitland on 04/24. Of the 126 attendees, 7 were from the Suncoast Division. I learned a tremendous amount of knowledge about these systems at the event.
The 50 attendees at the Division's 03/27 Grounding seminar by Mark Ode and John Minick are still reporting that new concepts about grounding were inculcated.
The 80th Annual Florida Chapter Business Meeting and NECode workshop at the Sheraton Riverwalk in Tampa 05/05-05/08 was a great success. Admittedly because of the economy, the attendance numbers were light. Yet the quality of electrical expertise dispersed by the Code Panelists, as well as by all the networking that took place, was in my opnion PHENOMENAL !
Several attendees at the 80th Annual were disappointed by their tardiness in signing up for the several special code classes being offered by DICK WIDERA'S SCHOOL OF BOOT LEG ELECTRICITY. The courses are on how to wire a outhouse to NEC Chapter 5 requirements, and "How to fool the electrical inspector."
Make plans now for the 81st Annual Chapter Meeting in 2011 which will be at West Palm Beach. It will be on 05/06-08/11 at the Crown Plaza Hotel
The Suncoast Division is very appreciative of all the support given in our collective efforts to put on the 80th Annual Meeting. Electrical contractors advertising in the meeting bulletin were Cogburn Bros. of Jacksonville, R. G. McCarty & Sons Inc. of Pasco/Hernando/Pinellas, AAIannaccone Electric Company of New Port Richey, All Phase Electric and Maintenance, Inc. of Tampa, and Mike Currie Electric Inc. of New Port Richey.
Tom McDonald of Advanced Protection Technologies in Clearwater was very instrumental in helping with the presentation of the 80th Annual. He and his employer were magnanimous with their support of the Suncoast Division IAEI and the Florida Chapter IAEI. AND LO AND BEHOLD I am pleased to announce that the IO has certified Tom as a new member of the IAEI.
I made a comment several times during the course of the 80th Annual about 16.666 cycle A/C electricity. I seemed to have stirred some people up with this application. At future division meetings this concept will be explored in much more depth.
COME ONE, COME ALL, AND SUPPORT YOUR DIVISION, ITS OFFICERS, THE IAEI, AND THE ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY.
Respectfully submitted by,
Richard (Dick) Widera
